Charlotte Bisley

Charlotte is a social development and communications specialist with more than 20 years professional experience working with businesses, governments and communities. She has worked in 28 countries across Asia (including on ASEAN-wide specific initiatives), Africa, Europe, North America and the Pacific. A particular focus has been in emerging economies and fragile states where the oil and gas endowments have the potential to contribute significantly to a country’s social and economic development.

Charlotte has provided social performance advisory services, including design and implementation, to extractives companies including BG Group, BHP Billiton, Gryphon Minerals and Mega Uranium among others and also to a range of international organisations and governments. This has spanned areas including social risk analysis, social impact assessment (SIA), social investment (CSR and SME development), local content, stakeholder engagement, social management plan development, social compliance monitoring and contractor management.

Charlotte is an Extractives Industries Specialist on a UNDP Expert Roster and is on the World Bank/UN Women Consultant Roster for Gender and Extractive Industry Experts. She is also on an Australian Government-funded Mining Governance Expert Panel. In 2013, she established a branch of her social performance consultancy in Myanmar.
